Approximately 20 No. slopes and retaining walls, referred to as “features” throughout Peng Chau and Cheung Chau outlying islands and HK Island required upgrading. The works included rock slope support measures, soil nail installation, earthworks compaction and retaining structure placement, to improve safety.  

Land based GI, procured as separate works order packages for each feature (20 No.), comprising about 60 No. drillholes (DHs) with standpipe and occasional inclinometer installation. Trial Pits were excavated to retrieve undisturbed block samples and carry out sand replacement testing. All undisturbed samples were split and described to provide detailed geological data. Challenges involved marine transport to the outlying Islands and Temporary Traffic Measures in congested locations and real time piezometric monitoring during the wet season.
